New Construction NewsMarket InsightsMarket Stats Canada Housing Starts Rise Less than Expected by Nest & Castle December 15, 2019December 3, 2020 December 15, 2019December 3, 2020 The seasonally adjusted annual rates of housing starts in Canada rose 0.3 percent from a month earlier 201,318 units in November 2019, but missing market expectations of 205,000, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Urban starts went up 0.4 percent to 88,559 units, as multiple urban starts increased 2.3 percent to 141,753 units while single-detached urban starts fell 5.1 to 46,806 units. Rural starts were estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 12,759 units.
